The Unraveling: A 6-Week Somatic Journey to the Self w/Lauren

꩜ The Unraveling

I began my embodiment practice today about the same time my dog got the zoomies. As I settled into my breath, grounded into the floor of my living room, Pipoca ran in circles, skirting under couches, only to reemerge seconds later on the opposite path around the coffee table.

And if that isn’t the most obvious metaphor for why somatic work is important, I don’t know what is. The world around us is in constant motion. Global events, family disagreements, best friends’ birthdays, and new accomplishments are a constant swirl around us, tugging at our attention, calling for our focus, and pulling us away from this still and constant center—our sense of self.

So how do we return to it? What are the tools to connect to self with a world that’s constantly pulling us outward? What do we even find when we start to look inside?

How I began…

I began my practice of turning inward from a state of complete overwhelm. I had been locked in functional freeze for years, struggling with depression, lethargy, and a very diminished sense of who I was and what I wanted in this world. But I still looked happy on the outside—I moved to Portugal, began teaching aerial yoga, and started my own business. But inside, I felt empty, dark, and confused. I didn’t know where I was supposed to be or what I was meant to be doing. But I knew I needed to find my way out of the darkness.

Alongside a handful of deeply inspiring teachers, I began—grasping at first, then shaking at times with the joy of it all. Weeping as decades of shame, grief, and loss began to move through and finally beyond me. Only to arrive here:

Where I am now…

In a place where the world still circles madly around me. Hard, impossible, miserable things still happen alongside great beauty, great joy, and great love. And I can stand here, surrounded by it, feeling everything, but still centered. Still breathing. Still connected. And finally, I'm confident that when the whirlwind settles, I’ll still be here. Strong. Grounded. Knowing my purpose and finding my way.

These are the tools I want to share. This is the gift I’m ready to put out into the world.

What is The Unraveling?

The Unraveling is about not only turning inward, but beginning to unpack the messages you’ve stored in your body every time you had to look away from what was too hard or too beautiful or too massive to sit through. It’s about finding a connection to your body that honors every sensation, every emotion that flows through you.

It’s about returning to yourself and finding everything you ever needed is right here.

Throughout our 6-week journey, you’ll try out dozens of tools to connect with the well of stillness inside you alongside a sisterhood of other women seeking the same. You’ll find the light burning within that points you confidently in the direction you are meant to travel. You’ll begin to build lifelong practices of self-love and self-care that will be the foundation you stand upon anytime a storm passes through.

Our journey will include:

  • Breathwork

  • Somatic practices

  • Embodied emotional processing

  • Restorative yoga and yoga nidra

  • Nervous system regulation

About Lauren Simonis

Hello, beautiful humans,

I’m Lauren, and I’ve been a yoga teacher for eight years, a facilitator for twenty, and a lover of all-female spaces my entire life. Nothing brings me more joy than the magic of women coming together and the profound sense of belonging and deep love that emerges.

My journey into embodiment practices began in 2021 after years of severe burnout and feeling entirely disconnected from myself and the world around me. From simple group facilitation and yoga teaching, my offerings have grown through one-on-one work with intuitive, somatic healers, courses in embodied group work, and trainings in embodied teaching. My approach combines a passion for softness and rest with a deep connection to the wild and untamed that vibrates within us all.
